Finding a path and a purpose for this boutique automotive engineering workshop.
Warren Heath is a friend of mine. He's been an automotive race engineer for ever. He used to work for the Subaru World Rally Team when they used to rule the roost in the World Rally Championship back in the '90s.
More latterly, Warren now owns and runs a boutique automotive engineering workshop which used to be called Warren Heath Engineering. His team specialise in Aston Martin classics and WRC-related cars, particularly Subaru derivatives.
The work that comes into the workshop typically arrives through word-of-mouth and the global pedigree of the amazing work they do. But as far as brand goes, one had never really been formed.
Warren asked me to bring life to the workshop through a brand that gave meaning, defined a purpose and offered a visual evolution.
Stylised as simply 'HEATH', the full name of the workshop is now HEATH Performance Automotive Engineering.
The new brand is centred around an emotive statement:
"We are HEATH. In pursuit of the ultimate sports car."
It's vision and mission all rolled into one but, perversely, it's a quest that will never be completed.
Because, whether it's storming the podium, winning a concours rosette or gunning the B-roads on a Sunday morning, the 'ultimate sports car' is different for everyone — and there's always the next project.
The ultimate sports car must be built. Will it be yours?
